Has anyone changed the power tubes in your Rx Jr yet? To me, I don't think it is sounding quite the same as it did. I'm going to change them and see if I'm just crazy, but I was wondering how long others are getting out of the power tubes in this amp. I know Myles suggests changing at around 300 hours in the Maz Jr, so this might be a good time frame for the Rx Jr.

A few weeks ago I thought I needed a tube change during a rehearsal. In a rush to set up I forgot the OverDose footswitch. When I got back I soldered a 1/4" jack!

I have only had my RX Jr a few months, but when I ordered a backup EF86 from Mike at KCA I added two of the TAD EL84's just to get my bill up to 40 bucks (and also just to try them). I took out the GT's in the RX and put in the TAD's and they sound very nice! Not a huge difference but not a difference that made me take them right back out either. The JJ's sounded great as well. I just can't justify spending a ton of money on NOS EL84's when I know my ear probably won't hear the difference.

I had to right off the bat since one of the stock GT's crapped out. I've been running a set of JJ's and have a/b'd them with my replacement set of GT's....both sounded great if not identical.

With the help of "6strang", I changed my power tubes last night. It was a noticeable change in volume and clarity. I practice three to four hours a day and play every weekend. I plan on having two sets of new tubes on hand at all times.

I believe that the power tubes were about 6 months old. We put in a matched set of Groove Tubes 6 rating. Added some high end and a noticable volume increase.
