Greetings gents, I purchased a pair of Marshall mini-cabs. I'm planning on swapping out the stock G10D's with either blue pup or silver ten. I love my Greenback tones I'm getting with Teds 1225's, so I was considering a pair of 10" GB's. Problem is I wasn't impressed with the new 12" GB's from China (ended up selling them) & I took out the V30 that came in my Z best so no V10 for me....Would like to here from any users that have them or heard them in action.
Thanks,
John

" I took out the V30 that came in my Z best so no V10 for me"
I've never cared for the V30, either. I did have a pair of original Ipswich made V10's, though that were my favorite 10's ever. There's no comparison between a V30 and a V10, IMHO. My second favorite 10" was a pair of Weber Silver 10 ceramics. I didn't compare them to the Celestion V10's, but there might be some similarities there since I liked both speakers. The only Weber Blue that I've tried was ceramic Blue Dog. It had way too much shrill treble tone for my tastes. YMMV. Problem with trying to find a good speaker, is you have to try them all. Takes a lot of time and money.

I had an Orange AD-15 with a 10" speaker and put both a Blue Pup and then a Silver 10 to try to tame the top end when using a fuzz. Both sounded good with the Silver being slightly more mellow. I did not find there was a huge difference between the Blue and Silver, though.
I'd go with Blues if you play clean, Silver if you are more on the dirty side of things.
This is a fairly limited example though.

The blue pups are really nice, however, they break up early and do not have much headroom. If you want to avoid this go higher wattage.

I have a 2x10 cab with Weber Alnico's, 1 blue pup, 1 silver pup. Awesome sounding cab with any/every amp. is low dB so it does reduce volume, works exceptionally well with the 'Ray and Germino Club 40.
Least desireable amp with this cab is the Ghia.

Funny you should mention that Curt...I have a Mazerati 2/10 combo w/Weber blue pups and occassionally I will run my Ghia through those speakers...it works, especially in a club that wants lower volume but not my favorite speaker with the Ghia either. I've been thinking about gettng rid of those 10's but I put in a set of beam blockers and now I can hear the high end a LOT better so I'm gonna keep em in a while longer.

I have a 2x10 non Z convertible with ceramic Blue Pup and Silver Tens. Sounds good with all amps I have used with it including the Ghia, Z-28, Maz Jr., RxJr., and MiniZ. While it is rated at 30 watts I haven't tried it anything bigger yet. I like the Z-28 with that one and a P90 ax.
