New CG owner, longtime Rt66 user/abuser.
Looking to your collective input for a cab/speaker solution - will be using the CG for Country & Blues gigs (chicken picken', slide - lead w/color tone chording)...with a touch of classic rock thrown in for good measure.
Have reviewed the other speaker threads but didn't see what I was looking for (all the usual suspects mentioned - Greenback, V30, G12H30, etc) but not in the above context.
If you're using the CG in that application, what cab/speaker combo flips your bippy?
Thanks!
Dw.

thats pretty much what i play.....i really liked the 4-10 (Jensen p-10R's) cabinet i ordered from mojotone with my Ghia (my bandmate now owns that rig) ..i also used a Z-Best with a G12h30 and a greenback...a single V30 and a single Weber ceramic Bluedog....for the really good shimmer and plenty of corpulent crunch the mojotone rocked...it was also very lightweight....i'm gonna try it with the Dr Z 2-10's in my Z-28 next time i rehearse as i will be adding a Carmen Ghia head to my rig....

I agree w/ paddywhacker... 10" speakers in an open back cab would be great for your application. That's also Dr. Z's recommendation for Country/Blues/Roots music. A Z 2x10 or 4x10 w/ his special design 10" speakers might just "flip your bippy." (still not sure what that means exactly though ) Further, the Z 10" speakers are particularly efficient and have a good power rating, which would give you max clean headroom...

Paddy/PeachPhan-
Really appreciate the thoughtful input! A 2x10 would be nice - 4x10 better, but the plan is less-is-more with this rig (quiet/small/portability). Will most likely put the 12BH7 in the PI to run a couple pedals (can't get away from it with current gigs) and get a tad more headroom. Waiting to see what model(s) Weber recommends for speakers.

scr-
Thanks for the links...missed that one in the forum. And, the Eminence chart is great - have a Fender Pro Reverb so the clips hit home nicely...gave a good idea of the tones. Really liked the Tonker! May have to change a few things in the ol' Pro now. ;- )

I play pretty much the same type of music as you, I run my Ghia through a Z 1X12 loaded with a well broken in V-30 and for me it works great, well enough that I traded PeachPhan my Z Best for another Z/V-30 cab. I do plan to try a Tonker in one of them as sooo many on this page seem to love the Tonker/Ghia for real clean "Spank".
Best of luck !

I'd have to go with a 2x10 pairing of the good Dr's 10in speakers. Well suited for country, classic rock, & blues - I should know - that's what I play!
Hope this helps. tomtheguitarguy

Appreciate all the info - will have to bookmark the page. Gent I purchased the CG from backed out of the sale after I sent payment. Returned my money...he decided to trade for a Vox AC30. So, on the hunt once again...
