I noticed that inside my carmen ghia z has used carbon fim resistors now i understand that there are reasons larger makers use them over the more traditional carbon comp (mainly fire) but everything else inside is serious boutique- sprague orange drops electrolytics etc that it seems odd only thing i've thought is that my ghia is not a bright toned amp that maybe carbon comps would roll too much tops off i'm pretty sure other models go for carbon comps- just tone or 2nd cheapest model? by the way this is no complaint just an observation- my cg is amazing- brilliant even with no reverb- put it against my 1965 blackface vibrolux and that sounds a bit sad and it was the best sounding black face i've ever heard- original oxfords and new filter caps

CC resistors are thought to sound sweeter than any other type, but they have some inherent problems. They have an issue with hiss and they tend to drift in value over time--especially when exposed to heat and high voltage. CF resistors are quieter and more stable while still retaining some of the CC sweetness. Most people agree they sound less sterile than MF.

I concure with s2. Lot's of shot noise with CC's when used in hi voltage positions.
They are mostly used to make a copy amp more period correct if you ask me.
If your looking for dough spent , check out the Transformers on the ghia as well as the chassis.
