Taken from the manual.
My Ray is 4 ohm. How do I match that on the Airbreak? It doesn't look like there is anywhere on the airbreak to change ohm settings.

It means plug the airbrake in where you would have plugged the cab in. Just didn't say it all that well...

Just place the airbrake between your speaker and the head. Plug your speaker cord that comes from the Airbrake to the 4 ohm plug in your Ray and the other cord to your speaker, which I assume is 4 ohms. The Airbrake doesn't care.

Thanks guys. I did a little further reading here and on the gear page about the air break. I think I'll stop reading now and just trust that Dr Z designed the air break not to blow up my Ray. Gawd, no more graphs and charts.

Gawd, no more graphs and charts. Heh... I know which ones you're talking about. I've been running my Airbrake with the Stingray and my 2x12 open back with Blues or a single Gold for a couple years now, and it still works great. Well, at least, since the Stingray came out - however long that is. I ALWAYS have the Airbrake on there when I run it, so if it were bad for it you would think I would have seen a problem by now.

Where do you sit this thing? I don't know if I want it on top of my Ray head. Looks like the tubes would over heat it.

Been sitting mine on top, but when I have just one, I sit it on edge so the controls face forward. No tube heating and easier to operate. But when I run two, I lay them side by side right across the vent and I've never even noticed the Airbrake get more than finger warm.

I just set mine on top of the head. Haven't noticed any heat problems with it yet. The rubber feet hold it up off the vent so there's air circulation beneath it.

DC here!
Havent had my Route66 or my Weber Minimass a long time - (October 2007) - I put my Minimass on top of the Route66-head - no problems at all so far - the Minimass gets maybe a little luke-warm.
Thats all - nothing to worry about.
I have driiled 12 - 13mm holes in the Mass to help ventilation. Three on each side and 6 at the top.
Cheers: Dixiechicken!

Who needs an Air Brake with the Ray anyhow!!!!!!!!! Depends on how much hair you like on your clean tone. I like a bit - need the volume up to around 1 to 2 o'clock to get the right hairball. That's just a scosh louder than the band will tolerate, so I Airbrake it and pull it down one to two clicks depending on the venue. To me that's the advantage of the Airbrake - you can dial your amp to the exact tone you want even if that's too loud, then adjust the volume "post-amplifier" to make it stage level. Using an Airbrake in this way is revolutionary to my tone search.

Steve do you find with the Air Brake set at zero that its a true zero attenuation? I.E the same as no attenuator in the chain at all?

Thanks Steve.. Maybe its my ears playing tricks at a loud gig but at "0" on the AirBrake it seems to me that there is a little something missing... But its all good, I really like what it does at settings 1 and 2 for gigs that need some volume control. Ive been running my Maz 38 NR head at MV 2 o clock and Vol about 2.30.

Maybe it's in your head (brain, not amp), but maybe it's the room-- or the room between empty at sound check and full at the show. Maybe?
