I'm certainly not try to rub anything in anyone's face. But I think this is one of the most striking amps Doc has released. Can't wait to hear it. Now your rubbing it our our faces Brad. I sat and watched this auction on Evilbay over the course of a couple of weeks and just drooled. Alas if only I had the money?

Hmmm...I may want a backup for mine...and another limited run amp wouldn't hurt If only money grew on tree$ Heck ... if you get a Radial Engineering head switcher you could have the ultimate "6545" amp there but with two power supplies and the magic presence knob that is missing on the 6545 that is actually a pretty amazing feature unlike the presence knob on most other amps.

There is a photo somewhere at GT where there is a blue wood front on an RX (non-ES) I believe, or it may have been an older SRZ-65 that is pretty great looking as well. On your KT-45 though even the script is cool along with the original physical layout.

I have one of the Radial Engineering Headbone VT tube amp head switchers. For those not familiar, you can plug two amp heads into this pedal, and run both amps into a single speaker cabinet. I got mine used from Curt a few weeks ago. This is a STUNNING piece of gear. Works perfectly. I'm really liking this KT-45 a lot

in my amp quest that started about 12 years ago, i tried , bought, and sold about 30 different ones, from soldano astroverbs, mesa boogies, old fenders, a couple of marshalls, a clark beufort, a peters, 3 carmen ghias, a mazerati, a route 66,about 5 blues pearls, a z-28, a 6545, an allen, and two kt45s, one with solid state rectifier and one with a tube... the reason i sold them, was, at the time, i wanted more of a swiss army type amp,, well, now, looking back, the one amp i miss most is the kt45 with the right spkr cab and an air brake as needed. i do miss the el34 tone of this amp, and would buy one again...

Myles: I considered a Headbone, but I instead bought my SRZ it's own Avatar cab and it sounds GREAT with it, much better than the 45's speakers (the combo is well matched).
I miss my 45 as well because one of the cab's speakers is blown and it doesn't have the chime through my Avatar cab. I need to replace that speaker soon.

I also have a headbone and it works great! Mine switches between an early 70s Marshall Super Lead and a Marshall 900 modded by the tech that does AC/DCs amps - it absolutely nails AC/DC tone! Never any issues with it!

I run my 6545 through a 4x12 w/heritage greenbacks - 45 side has great rock tones cranked. But not the best for sparkling cleans, but that's not what I'm going for and not what that cab is made to do. But the geenies do sound amazing cranked.

So how many names would it take for a quick reissue? Bump for THE question. When the Dr reissued the SRZ65LE there were 35 made...so I think we would need close to that amount to make it happen? I would be interested if it was a LE and was made in a custom color

I hope the Doc is keeping score! Even if those here who expressed interest were fewer than 35, he'd have no problem selling the remainders thru his dealers.

The original plan on the SRZ-65 was for 25 amps but the Doc made more for folks that had already expressed interest or were using them. I know that Carl Verheyen needed a second one to live out it's life in Europe so we did not have to send things back and forth and I had been telling Michael Burks for a while that for what he played, as great as things were with his MAZ Sr and dual Delta 88 setup I felt he might be even more happy with the SRZ-65. He tried the SRZ-65 out and I guess you could say I made the right call as the rest is history.
I am sure there were others that the Doc had in mind, maybe some of his dealers, where he felt 10 over what was signed up for was justified. I guess he made the right call.
I would bet that with 25 firm folks he would probably do it after Z-Fest is over when he has a bit more time.

If I remember correctly, the Doc himself built all 35 of the SRZ LE's even though he was experiencing problems with his hand.

It seems like we should be able to put 20-25 names together here.
Myles, someone mentioned that the KT-45 and Route 66 tones overlapped quite a bit. Any insight would be appreciated, and, it might to help spark a bit more interest amongst the other forum members.

Well, I'm not Myles (I've never raced a boat, restored a Czech L-39, much less been divorced ;D) but here's my take. On the surface the Rt. 66 and KT45 are in the same "universe", as the front ends are similar and the EL34 isn't "miles apart" from a KT66 compared to say, a KT66 and a EL84. The are very different sounding tubes though. There are some other pretty significant differences. For one, the output transformer is different. The Route 66 runs in ultralinear while the KT45 does not. The power supply filtering on the two amps is different. The 66 has more of a "smoky", darker complex midrange sound with a "softer" attack. The KT45 has a "harder" upper midrange and "crushed glass" treble, and a sharper attack, and is a brighter amp overall. The KT45 has way more clean headroom than the 66.

I find the two amps quite different.
The 66 has more of the big mids vibe or Marshall bluesbreaker tones on tap and the 45 is more Vox AC-50 to my ears.
