As suggested on this forum and per Brent. I dropped a GT-5751M into V1 and it tames the gain a bit and seems to smooth it out.... at least it does to my ears. Especially on Ch 2 where it seemed a bit to grainy for me. Will get a chance to gig it tomorrow night at www.shankhall.com here in Milwaukee - maybe I can channel a little Nigel Tufnel Also I noticed with Channel 2 after about 10:00 to 10:30 that turning the knob further doesn't really affect the volume just increases the gain (in Triode mode). Just got a Galaxie...finally! Yea Channnel 2 has way too much gain so I ordered a 5751 tube for V1. But what about V2? How will that affect the amount of gain on Channel 2?

Actually I have gone back to a 12AX7 in V1; now I run Ch 1 at about 2:00 o'clock/2:30 and Ch 2 at 9:30/10 and think of channel switching as more of a tone shift then rhythm vs. lead.

NOPE! Played for about a half hour with the 5751's in V1 and V2. The amp lost all responsiveness, i.e., the tone was dead. I changed them out to JJ ECC83S's and brought her back to life.
