I gave in to temptation today and plugged the 6545 back in to play it for a bit. I've decided to add it to my "stamp collection" and find another way to pay for the GT.

Smart move...........I would have loved to buy it if I had the $$$ but I think you'd really regret selling it in the end. I'm going to stick my neck out and say it could just be one of the best channel switching heads ever made.

Legend has it that the 6545 was the pet project of a certain key employee of Dr. Z who tragically passed away. The 6545 was discontinued shortly thereafter. Cheers, Blair

Agreed with the above folks ....
One of the best channel switchers ever made and part of the reason is two completely different front ends rather than just increasing the gain on the first channel as is done in most amps.
And ....
It was one of the Docs main folks that built the amp and it was a tricky amp to build and at the price it was being sold for was pretty costly.
There are two folks out my way ... Doug McCaskill ( I probably killed the spelling on his name) and Jeff Smith (easy to get that one right) that have at least four 6545s between the two of them ... maybe five. They know a great thing when they see it, play it, hear it.

Jones'n for Tone, Eh, stamps suck. Sell me your 6545! I'm not really big on stamps either, but after playing the 6545 some more I don't think I can part with it. Besides you already got one.

But two would equal STEREO! But I understand you wanting to keep it. These are so great; I'm never selling mine.
