This is my first post to the Ghia room and I'd like to say hello.
I ordered a Ghia this week and am sure I will be very happy with it, as I play a touch sesitive bluesy single note style (with more and more country influence creeping in - maybe I'll need an Esquire next!).
I have always liked 12's but went with the 2 x10 as there is some real mojo with having two speakers breathing at once, and the Z 10's are supposedly very, very good after breaking them in. I anticpate this amp will have lots of dimention and I can always add a Z-Best 2 x12 later when I need to move more air.
The threads on here were most helpful in making my decision, as was Stu at FSG, so my thanks to all!
Will certainly share my impressions when she arrives!

You'll love it. I too bought a 2-10 Ghia from Stu last year. Very tight and punchy. Perfect for what you said your playing style is progessing to. Let us know what you think and welcome to the forum!

Gotta agree. I have a CG head and play thru my 2x10 cab (Reverend Alltones 1025s).
Oh yeah, and the Esquire will get you in the end as well!

Thanks for the welcome everyone and the best wishes on the amp! I am looking forward to getting this so I can get back out playing - it has been a very long time since I have done so and with this I will be well prepared for tonefulness. I am very impressed by the knowledge I see being shared on here (I think I need to get up to speed on tubes - and it seems that this forum and Myles site are the place to be for that). Also very impressed by the quality of sound clips by some of the players on here! I do have one thing on the web to share, and it shows my bluesy side (albeit in a funky/light jazz setting) on a piece I contributed the guitar part for in the Fender Forum's "Jam Zone": www.nowhereradio.com/artists/?aid=4411/singlesThe backing track is from some guy in Indiana named Jim and I used my J-Station on the Blackface setting, and I hope my style will fit well with the Ghia (though I think I overdo the slip-picking in this one). I also think that getting a real amp and getting out and playing will help me improve (I have a Fender Ultra Chours that I bought in 1993 and only makes weird popping and squealing noises when I turn it on so I don't). You can't get the ability to play well in context of others by sitting at home! Patrick

Congratulations! The Ghia is my favorite amp. Very versatile... blues to country to dirty funk to hard rock is all within it's wheel house. stoopidly simple but highly effective control setup, and sweet sweet tone for days. swapping different tubes in V1 is a lot of fun to change the character and EQ curve of the amp a bit, as is trying both a 5751 and a 12BH7 in the PI spot (you might really dig the 12BH7 for a little more headroom in your application.
Different speakers really make a difference with the Ghia too. The 2x10's will be great, but don't hesitate to try a few extension cabs for different flavors!

Hi, I'm in the UK and have been using mine with a Z 1 X 12 cab and air brake. 18 months of using it and I'm still awe struck by the tones. I play strats and PRS C22, both sound beautiful. I was tempted by a Boogie Lonestar but it's got too many controls!

I have a CG head, with the 2 x 10" Dr. Z cab. His speakers are great. Most of my other amps are 12's, and I wanted a different sound. I got it, big time. The bass is great, and very good highs. When you turn the amp up, magic happens. Natural distortion, and wonder ful compression, which cleans up with a quick guitar vol. reduction. Prepare to have a lot of fun.
