Well, my GT left the basement for the first time last night... I brought it to a jam I frequent. From the moment I hit my first chord I was in heaven! Wow! This amp sounds much better in a crowded bar than it does in my basement. It really sounded phenomenal. I used my Suhr Strat and ran it straight in. I got several compliments on my tone. It's a loud sucka for sure though... I had the Airbrake on 4 the whole time! With my Galaxie, the Airbrake is usually on 1 or 2.
I'm happier than ever with the new amp. It has such warm, sweet semi-cleans and comes on plenty strong when my guitar volume is cranked. I'm not one for trying to cop a tone from a recording... I just try to get a tone I like for the song. Last night I got a killer tone for Pride and Joy - the best I've ever had. I did a short set (place was pretty packed) - Pride and Joy, Rock and Roll Hootchie Coo, Alright Now, Cheap Sunglasses and Purple Haze. I could have played all night - what tone!

That's great! What speakers did you use? Just curious. Congrats - sounds like you have the right one!

Thanks Benttop. I was using my Avatar 2x12 with one V30 and one G12H30 - I had it standing on end. Paul G and I live close to each other - one of these days when we meet I hope to try my GT with his Z-Best... I might NEED one of those ;-) Right now, I'm setting my sights on a nice, light 2x10 to bring to jams.

The Avatar with G12h and V30 seems to be a popular cab, and those are both great sounding speakers. Bet it's almost perfect. I've been running my GT into the 1x12 Convertible cab with V30 and it's really sounding great. The Z-Best has more bottom, but the Convertible is less than half the weight.
