Nope......... I have been curious for a long time.....way before the JR was invented. I must admit that I miss the extra "balls" that my Maz JR NR had.........so, I thought the RX JR would compliment the MAZJR very nicely. The hope is that I can eliminate more pedals and AB the "Juniors"........ "The Juniors"

Congrats James. The Jr definitely has a percussive sound and gets a great tone at low volumes. You're gonna love it!

Just got it last night...........WOW! I played for about 3 hrs with my R6 and a weber 1225(the greenie model) Man oh man............The bottom end of this amp is fantastic. It actually "Rumbles". I compared the 1225 with a blue dog and the JR is right at home with the 1225. ( BTW, that is a great friggin speaker!!!) The blue dog sounded fantastic, but, a little compressed for my likes. The ceramic "greenback 1225" allowed the percussiveness to come thru more and as I mentioned, the bass was thunderous. I didn't try any gain pedals and I don't think I'll ever need anything extra with this amp. Anyone wanna buy some stomp boxes? ? Between this amp and the maz JR, all my levels of desired gain are satisfied. Talk about the ultimate AB amp setup. I did do a comparison with the Maz jr and the RXJR...........at first I thought that I was getting some of the RXJR tones out of the Maz..........and I was getting close in the gain area, but, when I switched over to the RX, it wasn't that close. The RX was just so much fuller and bigger sounding. bigger bass..........more chime........smoother gain. It's like the amps intersect on several levels, but each has its strengths. The Maz (with verb) can get much closer to the fendery side of things........with it's nice cleans and lush reverb. I thought it had more clean headroom than the RX. The RX , OTOH, is more comfortable in the zone similar to those 3 sound clips on the RX page here on the website. It's not that the MAZ cannot get dirty and that the RXJR cannot get crystal cleans, but, more that each one has its own "comfort zone". Also, the master volume works perfectly....and between the MV and the overdose you can really dial in your desired tone at any volume. The RXJR is one very very very fun amp to play.......... ;D Very special amp........ Simply put, if there is something in the sounclips of the RX that you like, then you will be able to get that exact vibe with the JR, but, without blowing your face off......

The RXJR is one very very very fun amp to play.......... ;D Yeah, that's exactly it! If playing music is about having fun, the RX Jr. only amplifies the fun! Hey, I should be in marketing!

It's cool seeing the initial reactions!! Welcome!!
The RxJr. is a really cool amp. So far I do like it with ceramic speakers best. You said it too; the bottom end is very nice. I like 2x10s with it for the bottom to keep it punchy, but I also like the Z-Best ALOT with it. I do have to say though that with my Fender guitars I like the Dr. Z 2x12 Blues cabinet, but I'm playing my LP and 335 more right now. I am replacing the Silver and Blue AlNiCos with a ceramic Silver 12 and Blue 12 in my 1x12 Theile cabs today to do a gig tonight and I'm hoping they will be good. I also have a Cabinet with off axis Celestions with a 10 and a 12 open back... I gotta try that one. I haven't done that yet! I love Webers but the AlNiCos don't do the 15 watts justice... the volume difference with the Weber ceramics I think opens this amp up nicely!
While it is a simple amp it is still very versatile... and the controls are intuitive. When you add a little or cut a little it is just what you'd expect. I haven't had to do much tweaking with this at all no matter what guitar I use.
I'm still on the honeymoon with the RxJr., I have done some gigs with it and I've been lovin' it! People have commented on it and it actually pushes me to stick my neck out a little more because it sounds soooooo good!

Yup.......Fun, Fun, Fun amp.................all the tones are there at your finger or just a "dose" away. Finally plugged my strat in. Again, another religious experience. This amp is "tight".. Chords ring evenly and openly and the sustain at lower levels is like infinite.
One thing I might add is that if I was looking to by a new MAz jr NR, I would have a hard decision between the NR and the RXJR. Anyone out there considering a new MAZJR NR should look seriously at the RX. Definately as good in the "cleans", but, even ballsyier and more "thump" and "wallop" in the bass. The MAZ is probably more tweakable, but, I'd probably choose the RX over the NR.

Yea I know the feeling . I could only afford one so the Maz jr went by by. Now I only have the RX Jr. and ZBeast/ZBest is on it's way... My only regret is I wiish I could keep both, That said The RX Jr. is "The Cats Meyow''.. or CATs Pajamas!!! i wonder what a RAY sounds like W/ a 59 Paul RE

This amp is simply incredible. I have owned a lot of z's....... This one, however, is easily my favorite one to play. Again, the fun factor is at a maximum. This amp really produces those "cleans with hair" that we all love. The type of clean tone with a little grit that cuts through the mix. You can truly go from tone to tone using your volume knob...... Very Very Very touch sensitive. With the same setting you can bend a note at the 12th fret and get some "scream" and then back off your pick attack and sound "bluesy" ..... and at the same time you have this the bottom that "thumps" and lets you pick with your fingers for some "nasty" ......but clean "paisleyesque"....stuff. I don't know if Ronnie Crecelius is following this post, but, "Ronnie"......I have been thinking you would love this amp everytime I listen to your clip of Fol. Pris. blues. I also just played it thru my z best for the first time. The oomph of that cab with the percussiveness of the RX makes for a perfect match. AND ALL AT VOLUMES THAT EVERYONE CAN ENJOY. THE BAR OWNER WILL BE HAPPY AND YOU WILL BE HAPPY AS WELL SINCE YOU ARE NOT LOSING ANY "FEEL" FROM HAVING TO TURN IT DOWN.

Isn't that a rush when you plug the Jr. into the Z-Best!!?? I'm like you, as this amp RIGHT NOW is my favorite as it fits the weekly gig I have so well and I'm still having a blast with it. I am considering taking the Z Best out there with me tonight!! I wish I had a roadie! (I can't wait til the outdoor shows start as I want to take my StangRay out too!)
