This head looks older than dirt and I am geared up to buy it today, but would like a little more info than the seller can provide. This amp looks almost like a prototype or early production. I don't yet have the SN. Is that the correct tolex for an older Dr. Z amp? Other odd things are the finish on the front panel, the lettering and lack of numbers around the knobs, the reversed bright and expand switches and the gap at the ends of the control plate ( lack of piping ). I also wonder if the circuit formula and transformers remained the same from the earliest amps to the end of production? Seems like a good deal for $850 if it is original. Thanks for your time.

That's pretty nice dirt.
If you're in NE Ohio, I'd make arrangements to walk into the factory. You'll get your best answers there. Contact Brent or the Doc himself.

Yeah, I should do that. They are only about 30 minutes away. I am going to buy this amp but was wondering how original it was, that's all.
