Hello Ted!!
I really really like the Dr Z speakers that came with my Maz Jrs. I have a nice Jenkins 2x10 speaker cabinet (open/closed option) with Vintage 30s in it. I want to be able to use the Dr. Z speakers in the 2x10 configuration in the Jenkins cab with my Ghia heads and allow me to use the Dr. Z speakers to experiment with other heads.
I am going to put two new 10" speakers in one of my Maz Jr. combos. Does anybody have any suggestions for 10" speakers other than the norm (ie Greenbacks and Vintage 30s?). I'm looking for more drive and breakup but with reliability. I'm not looking for more brightness at all. Probably a little less if anything. Also not looking for louder, just smooth nice tone.
Thanks in advance,
Paul Toracinta
PS I'm loving them copper caps!!

I've got a pair of Eminence Ragin Cajuns in my 2x10 cab and they sound big & fat w/ the Ghia. They have a little more oomph than the Z 10"s that I had in their previously. I still like the Z 10"s though but I wanted some speakers with a little better bass response and these suckers did it...

+1 for the Rajun Cajuns. I have a Ghia 2x10 combo, love it but wanted a different sound. The RC's have a slightly darker tone, lots of bite, very Southern rock feel. These are 8 ohm speakers, I run mine @ 4 ohms... parallel . I'm very pleased with them.

Definitely not TOO bright, but nice, mids that DO cut through. At least in the TruTone cabinet that they currently live in. I'm looking for something cleaner and brighter - Tele through a Gia into 2 x10 setup. Let me know if you're interested. I'll let them go inexpensively.

Weber Alnico Blue Pups are really nice. I used to have the 30w ones in my Maz Jr. combo. You'll lose some headroom but gain earlier break-up and that nice alnico tone.

I like the 20 watt Weber blue and silver alnico together. It really cuts the headroom (like amakitalo said) but the two speakers really compliment each other. Great for blues tone. Very different from the Z speakers.
