I want to get a new mic for gig and rehearsal vocals - I'm interested in a Shure condenser(forget the model) - it's just over 2 bills. Any suggestions? What should I be looking for?

Shure Beta 87C. I love it and so do most of the FOH guys I've dealt with. It just sounds like me.

I use Shure 87A condenser mic and it works great. Also check out Neumann microphones.

I not only use them for vocals I also use them to mic the amps.
On the Loggins & Messina tour we used $20,000 worth of Shure KSM-32's on the stage each night. Not a dynamic mic to be seen.

I use an AKG 3000B for my vocals. Sounds great and won't break the bank. I sometimes use a Beta 58 but it's not a condenser. I bet that 87A would be pretty cool too. damn, now I'm gassin for microphones... it never ends..

My GAS is for a KSM44. I've heard it's killer for the price....
