Everytime I see a Mini Z sell on Ebay it blows my mind. These are selling for 800 dollars used. The same goes for small victoria or bad cat amps. People love small amps because they can be cranked at manageable volume levels getting a nice output tube distortion.
With this in mind why isn't there a 1000 dollar baby ghia?

Funny thing with this one. The Mini is a cool amp and maybe some day will make a come back, but there were some issues with keeping the Mini in production (I won't go there), and given the demand (lack there of) it was just easier to discontinue the amp. The rule of supply and demand...limited supply+high demand=high cost.
As for the baby Ghia, get yourself a Hammond reverb chassis and build one. I considered it, but I've already got a Ghia and well, it's just not worth the hassle.

What the Doc should do is offer the Mini Z as a kit so all his Zombies can try their hand at building. He'll make as much if not more profit with little labor cost.

Zdogma, All the customer support he'd need is right here on the forum. There's plenty of people here with enough experience to answer any questions that would come up.

And I'd offer it as a head only, with or without the cab. Then have a contest on how weird of a cab you could build it into. That would be fun, I threw away an old Hoover vaccum cleaner that would be so cool as an amp...winner gets a new Z Carmen Ghia!!!
Isn't that a great idea Doc.

good thought. I'd like to try an Allen amp someday, especially since my last name is Allen and it would be a fun project no doubt and a Z kit would be really cool as well...

the KT45 was supposed to be a kit amp, but the Doc decided he needed to handle the construction himself. Thus I doubt he would kit out the Mini but it is a simpler circuit I'm betting.

There are still lots of players who would love to get a Mini-Z. I really hope that Z will reissue that little amp. What a great amp it was!
