Hey guys,
I recently got a Z28 from a board member, and it looks to be in great shape, so I unpacked it, put the tubes back in, plugged it, connected it to my 2 x 10 cab, turned it on, but there is no sound coming from the speakers.
I checked all my volumes, the light is on, everything looks right on the outside...
Any thoughts on what I else I should check or what might be wrong?
Thanks for your help!

Recheck your speaker cable and make sure it's all the way in on both ends. Do all tubes light up? Do you get any hiss when out of standby?

Check & see if the 5AR4 rectifier tube is hot. It's located by itself next to the capacitor can. Myles told me mine should be very hot. It was cold. Replaced it and the amps works fine! A failed EF86 preamp tube at the other end of the tube string can cause no sound. Mine did.
Do yourself a favor, as Doc Z recommends, and buy a whole new set of tubes when you buy a used amp, especially one that might have been treated rough during shipment.
Good Luck, Texas Jim
