Hey guys!
I'm a new user here...I'm interested in a Z, but there are many options and I'm not sure what the best choice for me is. I became interested in Dr Z amps based my experiences in the studio with a Mazarati. Killer amp...great sounds every time...
I'm a studio player and do a lot of live performance in genres from pop and rock to jazz trio settings. I need something that can get pretty loud and stay clean for the jazz stuff, but I like the Voxy vibe the Mazariti can get...is there a Z that can get me both?
I love Fender Blackface Deluxes, so a Z-28 seems like a good choice, but I'm not sure how clean it is when cranked up. I might need a bit more power, so maybe a Maz Sr? I basically want clean cleans and voxesque breakup...
Thanks guys!

I agree the Stang Ray is one you should check out. You can't really go wrong with a Maz Sr. either because it has a master volume and you can dial it up however you like. On the other hand, a 6545 is a pretty sweet deal - KT-45 on one side, and SRZ-65 on the other. Now you're talking a 65 watt clean amp and a 65 watt Marshall amp, all in one easy cab... holy smokes!

If you like a deluxe you will love a Z-28. It can cover the black and brown tolex era deluxe tones.
You can also use either a 5751 or 12AX7 phase inverter and have in a manner of speaking, two different amps.
With an open back 4x10 it can cop tweed bassman tones as well.
It is happier with pedals than most any other amp out there and has more clean headroom than a deluxe if you want it. You can also adjust the tone controls in relationship to the volume control to make the amp more agressive than a deluxe.

Thanks guys!
The Stang Ray is interesting...how does it sound when it breaks up? Do you really have to play super loud to get it to break up?
The z-28 sounds pretty cool. Can it get pretty loud but stay clean? I don't need it to be SUPER loud, but if I could do a jazz trio gig with an archtop and stay clean, that'd be great. I've done this with a Deluxe with reasonable success.
