Forgive me, I am new. I was wondering why some amps production have been suspended. Also, maybe not belonging in this same thread, what amp would you recommend for great cleans? I need some clean tones. My little 18 watt marshall copy won't do it. I loved loved loved my z-28, but had to sell it because I wanted a head. But, I don't think it will have the headroom. Thanks a lot. kc

Thanks a lot. kc Production on a number of amps was temporarily suspended when the Doc's lead tech died earlier this year. I expect that as the new team comes up to speed, he'll take selected ones off suspended status, but no formal announcement has been made. As far as clean goes, there are some mighty fine amps in the Z lineup that go that way. I'm pretty partial to my Stingray, as most folks who have them are. But I think it's going to really depend on what kinds of tones you're looking for. The KT-45 comes to mind here - awesome clean tones and TONS of headroom. That said, there are several others that could fill the bill as well.

I figured that might be the case, but I was unsure. Thanks for the help. I have really been considering finding a used 6545. I have only seen one, and I missed out on it. I considered a Route 66 or Delta 88, also. I want something that takes pedals real well, also.

how does the Stang like pedals, as that is what I will be going for. Clean and then adding dirt and effects. I have another amp fpr really classic rock tones.

The 'ray loves pedals. But I have to say, I play mine without any pedals except the JX-2 A/B/Y. Sometimes I switch on the boost that pedal has, but mostly I just play it loud and clean. Again, sound clips here: www.gear.strayca.com/stingray.htm ;D

The Ray is the best clean amp I'v ever played, or heard. If you want overdrive it's very compatable with several pedals. Check out the General Board lots of good stuff on the Stang Ray.
