Gonna have to make do w/my ol' '68 Blackie Custom. Maybe by the time they grow some more curly maple I'll have the house and car paid off ;^) I DO know a guy that has the 90th Anniversary (Les, not the guitar) model that's REALLY purty. Actually he has TWO of 'em. And maybe one's for sale. Mr. Polfus himself signed the control cavity cover on 'em. The tops are Western Maple, as were the 50's ones (don't know what difference that makes tonally, they sure look nice though.) Some kind of Guitar Center exclusive deal... www.guitarcenter.com/gibson/dispProd.cfm?itemid=32Y'all check this clip of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac that Zane found on youtubedotcom...Oh Well thru silverface Fender Showmans? Looks like it. AND its the same LP with a little less wear on it (like about 35 years less!)

Only if you deposit your pancreas beforehand in a lock box at the bank.

Spleen, pancreas, kidney... what the hey. There's only one organ on my bod that's not for sale, EVEN for a '59 Les Paul!

Post by BW on May 23, 2006 11:03:23 GMT -7
yeah, and that organ and a '59 are kinda mutually exclusive.....if ya ain't got one, the other ain't gonna do ya much good...

$6K and it does't even have gold hardware!!! I wish *my* name could make that much money. That name being Gibson, of course-- not Les. Even a piece of crap with the Gibson name on it sells for big dollahs..

Gonna have to make do w/my ol' '68 Blackie Custom. Hey BW, does your '68 LP Custom have a tune-a-matic bridge? I've got a '69 LP Custom, but it has a Schaller bridge. I think Gibson was using some Schaller bridges around that era, not sure why though ... unless it originally had a tune-a-matic and someone replaced it. kc

Mine has a gold ABR-1, kc. Don't remember seeing a factory Schaller, sure coulda been though. Yeah, Justin, back then 'Gibbo' was the only game in town unless you were a Fenderholic, or worse yet, a WretchedGretsch-o-vert.

Buddy,
I moved this over here from the general area so folks could see that you have an ongoing sticky featured post when folks have questions for you in the ask the experts area.
