I have a Stingray combo. The speakers are 4 ohms and I want to run an additional 8 ohm cab. Can I run both at the same time out of the 4 and 8 jacks or do I need some type of splitter? I don't want to fry anything.

Seems to me you'll want to rewire your combo to 16 ohms, and get a 16 ohm cab, then use a Y cable and plug them both in the 8 ohm jack. That way, when you gig without the extension cab, you can plug the combo speakers into the 16 ohm jack and still be good to go.

I don't see a way to do that. The combo could be rewired to 16 ohms but then you'd need a 16 ohm extension cab, then run them both on the 8 ohm jack. If you plug the 8 ohm cab and the internal speakers into the 4 ohm jack the amp will see a little less than 4 ohms, if I'm not mistaken.

The formula for parallel resistance is . We only have two resistances to compute here - 4 ohms and 8 ohms, but putting those in to the formula you arrive at a total resistance of 2.7 ohms - that seems a bit low for the amp if you ask me.
