Myles,
I noticed my rt 66 started sounding all distant and out of tune and basically "squishey".........I would hit certain single notes and they would sound out of tune and really hard on my ears......high pressure. Last weekend I took the amp in to a very good local amp repair guy ( whose initials are actually DRZ....no kidding!) and he said the bias was very cold... (low ? right?) Anyway, he reset the bias to somwhere around 38 mA and the amp sounded wonderful again when I played it Saturday night (approx 2 hrs).
Sunday morning, however, when I started palying it, after about 20 minutes I realized it was sounding bad again............Do you think the power tubes are bad.........do bad power tubes have trouble holding their bias?.............The amp is 4 months old.......has the original GT 66's and has seen lots of hometime jamming and an average of 3 actual gigs per month.
I would really appreciate any suggestions you might have......when you get a chance.
regards,
james

If you are near a tech with a good tube tester you can have them checked (or if near me I will do this for nothing). KT66's are somewhat fragile and the amp may have taken a hit in transport at some point. If the bias is stock the easiest and fastest thing to do is toss in a new set of 5's or 6's.

Would anyone out there happen to know where I can get 2 Varo VG10 doides. I have surfed the web a lot and can't find a supplier. I only found the spec sheet and places where I would have to order like a 1000! Any help would be appreciated.
