Will it hurt my Maz's tubes to power off my amp without going to standby, letting tubes cool, then turning off? I was taught to switch to standby for a few minutes before powering off. But lately I get distracted and find the next day my Z is still on standby thus wasting tube life. Any thoughts?

Opinions vary. I shut them both off at the same time. Been doing it for years. So far, so good.

Yep...I agree with what the Doc and Budda said in that thread. I've always liked to discharge my filter caps by playing while turning the power off and leaving standby on...BUT...before I actually work on the amp I always discharge it again "properly" because electrolytic caps can "recharge" just while sitting there with no power applied after they've been charged up. Better safe than sorry.
