Again Myles, all of this info if greatly appreciated!
My supplier of tube doesn't have in stock at the current moment any NOS 5751, but does have at a fair price ($28 cdn) some Jan-Philips 5751. He also has in stock some Sovtek 5751 for $20.
The extra $8 is not an issue of course, but should I in your professional opinion wait and get my hand on a NOS 5751, Mullard or other?
I am looking at something in that range (given they are within' the proper range) the to give me some extra headroom (Maz Jr NR w/ 2-10 cab). Doing so, I am looking to push the Genalex GoldLion (RI) that I have coming in today. Stock are JJ's.
Thanks again Ben

Thank you for the link Chetz - I'll be looking at his inventory and will see how much i'd be to get it shipped here in Canada, brokage fees and whatnot. Cheers Ben

I get my NOS tubes from Brent Jessee (audiotubes.).. he is mucho knowledgable, and kind. I love NOS 5751. I'm using a NOS 1950's GE 5751 in the V1 spot of my Ghia.. and, I still have the original NOS 5751 in V2. Great tube! I've read that SRV used them heavily...

I put a 5751 in V1 of my old Fender Vibrochamp. VERY cool tube swap! Beefed up the tone, increased headroom, and allowed the use of overdrives and fuzzes without overloading the amp. Highly recommended!

Chptunes - I've been speaking with Brent this morning via email and he's been a really good lad about my enquiry in NOS 5751 tubes, characteristics detail of each brand have been really helpful. I'm toss between the RCA Blackplate ( richest and warmest @ $110 for a pair for V1 and V2) or the Tungsol Greyplate ( smooth and warm @ $130 for a pair again). Balanced triodes of course. We haven't discussed yet which one would be preferable to go with in V3 for the PI. I usually get my tubes from Jon @ Thetubestore, but he doesn't have any of these unfortunately. Ben

Ben.. Brent Jesse is a great guy.. I've placed several orders with him. I always receive everything I ordered in great shape. Ghia only has two pre-power amp tubes [V2 is PI]. If your amp has the PI in V3, stick another 5751 in there too! Others might advise otherwise.. but, NOS 5751's are hard to beat in any preamp position. [unless your PI is a 12AT7.. those are different.. I can't advise a substitute for those.] Anytime RCA Blackplates are on the list, they are my pick. As I'm getting settled with my gear, and not planning to make big purchases, I may consider a bigger investment in tubes. [other times, I think that Ghia doesn't need expensive tubes] I do think a whole amp full of RCA 50's Blackplates would be awesome; 5751 for V1 and V2 EL84 for V3 and V4 5Y3G for V5 It'd cost a 'pretty penny'. ;D

Chptunes - These are actually going into my Maz NR, so in V1 and V2. I'm not sure which one Brent will recommend for V3 for Phase Inverter - or in other words, 3 Blackplates or a combinations of two brands, for different flavour. I'm pretty set in my gear also, so the investment of a few hundred $$ towards tubes is on rational really, compared to the cost of the amp, guitars, stomps, etc...it's a pretty small price to pay to maximize your tone. Thanks as always - and some Karma too Ben

Ben Ben, The Tubestore is a good place but if they do not have any try: www.tubedepot.comwww.kcanostubes.comwww.dougstubes.comI have worked with all three of those folks and they are all great. My own stash of 5751s came from Mike at KCA as a sidenote.
