Howdy,
And here I just went and bought a lightly used Celestion Blue! I'll be keeping an eye, err, an ear on this one.

sounds good, but i'd like to hear them with different applications. Some how no matter what Eric plays it always sounds the same... it all sounds amazing, I love his tone, but it never changes no matter what he plays. I'd like to hear them with a vox and stuff too.

He keeps mentioning that they have a very flat response. That is desired for modeling amps. I have a Flextone III XL that is 150 solid state watts... 75 watts per channel. It still has the crappy stock speakers in it. mineguitar.blogspot.com/2012/01/line-6-flextone-iii-xl.htmlI always thought it might be fun to replace them. I wonder if these could actually handle the extra power? Probably not! But I bet they would sound good in there... 50 watt speakers in 75 watt amps probably = Burnt out speaker.

If it has 2 in it then it's not as big a problem. You'll notice blue and golds together in cabinets with the blue being only 15 watts, the gold being 50 watts. Take the Z-wreck and matching cab for example.

For me it would be 1 speaker on each 75 watt channel. (2 speakers total)...

Give us a review when you get a few days on that speaker. I'm really interested to find out what it sounds like compared to a G12H30. Amp set clean with and without OD pedals.

^^^ I got one in my Maz Jr Studio and LOVE it! It's breaking in nicely and I haven't even thought about going back to the Gold...yet.. ANd that's a BOLD statement!. I love the Gold in the Maz Jr but this EJ1250 sound even smoother with plenty of sparkle and maybe a tad less loud. Great speaker! ....plus..I sound just like EJ now! ;D

Looks snazzy back there, matching the Brake Lite and all. BTW, how many screws you got holdin' that speaker in there, anyway.. I only see 1!

There are 3 screws holding it in lightly at the moment. I'm ashamed to say I stripped one screw putting it in the cab. But, I think it looks good too. Matching BrakeLite is easy on the eyes for all that are standing behind me!! lol Congrats Mark...sometimes you just have to take a chance, don't ya Keith Thanks Keith. Yes...this G.A.S. is expensive...and hit & miss! While I'm not big on Signature Series items, I've been a big EJ fan since I saw him several times in a small club in CHarleston, SC several years before "Tones" came out. (Early 80's)... His obsession with "Tone" makes him somewhat of an exception in my mind. I have an EJ Strat and love it! So I wanted to try this speaker and glad I did. Plus George Alessandro had a hand in this speaker too. However, he has a Sig Fuzz that I'll pass on. I love my aNaLoG.MaN SunFace & AstroTone Fuzzes...

So has anyone else had a chance to give Mr. Johnson's signature speaker(s) a ride? I have one in hand but no cab for it yet and am seeking to obtain another 8 ohm. They will be installed in 2x12 Forte vertical S/V I recently purchased from Nick (outstanding gent to deal with by-the-way)! I'm going to drive them with my Mojave Coyote and the waiting is killing me! MarkT, any further thoughts on the sonic qualities of your E.J?

^^^ Yes...It's breaking in quite nicely and I still love it! As far as sonic quality...it had that sweet AlNiCo singing midrange thing going on. It really sound alot like the Gold, but a little smoother. Not that the Gold is not smooth, but the Gold has a little more chime I guess. The Ej has plenty of sparkle and is pretty or nasty if you want...
Great speaker....plus...it looks good back there! ;D

I was out reading a few more articles on the E.J. Signature model and someone commented they read an article that the E.J. was going to be offered in a ceramic version as well. Anyone hear anything on this. I think it would be great! Alnico for my top vented and ceramic for the bottom sealed. Bouya!!

Well I have good news, bad news, then great news and then bad news! Good news, I found another E.J. so I now have two for my new to me Forte vertical 2x12 S/V and the E.J. arrives on Thursday. Bad news, I will be out of town Thursday morning through Saturday night! Great news, the wife and kids are away for a few days longer so I will get to really open this sucker up and move some serious air! Bad news, going to be a long day for my neighbors! I'll report back on how the E.J.'s sounds in the lower sealed and upper ported Forte cab! Either way, it's going to be a fun day on Sunday!

I'll report back on how the E.J.'s sounds in the lower sealed and upper ported Forte cab! DOn't forget that AlNiCo speakers like to breath....love open backs.....sealed...not so much. Looking forward to your report. That new EJ ceramic that's coming may the ticket for the closed part of that cab.
