ok , i finally did it, i used an old fender blues jr speaker baffle, mounted it inside my z 1x10 combo cab cab with corners notched out for coil clearance, i moved it over to the left for same reason. squeezed it the 12" alnico blue & it sounds great with ghia chassis installed . although i tried it next to my alnico gold 10" & that speaker is darn close to the blue - so if you are jonesing for a blue , try a 10" gold 1st - you will love it. - at least i now can swap out easily. * next project is to squeeze a 10" gold & a 12" blue into a 1x12 z cab, that should be easy. later bros

I've been toying with trying to put a 10" in my SS Vox Pathfinder amp. (Great CHEAP little Solid state practice amp by the way) But I've already spent the money on an 8" Weber Blue Pup to replace the crappy speaker it came with. The thing is, I'll probably never gig with it, even if it does get a 10" speaker put in it, that makes me think "why bother". For an 8" speaker, it's a fantastic little amp. Huge 20 oz. magnet on a little 8" speaker. Really keep the bottom end from flapping out.
But I did some measuring, I don't think there's enough room to put it in there. Depth is the problem. The chassis cover gets in the way. That kind of kills it right there.
I've been thinking about buying another Pathfinder, taking the chassis out of the combo, throw the combo away, and putting the tiny amp in an equipment case for a backup.

here are pics, i just gotta make the front speaker hole & cover it with z grill & piping. i couldn't mount speaker on front baffle like the 10" was because i would have had to cut the existing supports inside the cab, and it might've not been structurely sound enough. -also i wanted to be able to switch back if need be. when covered up it will look perfect. - i just wanted to show you guys because this is only place i can find people as crazy as me ;D

speaker shifted to the left, i used a wood chisel to carve out corners in 1/2" plywood baffle (about 1/4" in) for clearance

thanks guys: i gotta say after doing the swap , i do realize that the c gold 10" is pretty close to the c blue 12"- but the blue is better- nothing can replace a 12" speaker for guitar for me. >as far as 10" - i find the ramrod ok, the red fang is much better, but no comparison to the c gold 10". just my opinion. i like eminence speakers, but i love celestial alnicos. complex & musical always
